FAQ

Feel free to ask as many questions as you like.

These are common questions about appointments and visits, surgery and hospitalization, costs, and international patients. Questions specific to each treatment appear at the bottom of each treatment page, with about 20 per page.

Booking · Visit

01How do I book a consultation?

You can book by phone at 051-791-2870, through the website reservation form, or via Kakao Channel or Naver TalkTalk. Website requests are confirmed after the clinic calls you to verify.

02What happens at the first consultation?

We listen carefully to your concerns, then analyze your skeletal structure and bite using facial photos, 3D CT, and an intraoral scan. We will tell you honestly whether surgery is needed, and if we determine it isn't, we will tell you that.

03Is there a consultation fee?

There are fees for the initial examination and tests such as CT. The diagnosis fee for jaw orthodontics and contouring surgery is listed in the fee schedule as KRW 30,000.

04What are your hours?

Mon·Tue·Thu·Fri 09:30–18:30 (lunch 12:30–14:00, last check-in 18:00); Wednesday 09:30–20:00 evening hours (break 17:30–18:00, last check-in 19:30); Saturday 09:30–14:00 (no lunch break); closed on Sundays. Thursdays and Saturdays are closed on alternating weeks, and the dates are posted on the Directions page and Naver Place.

05How do I park?

Please use the Roji Life parking lot (13, Dongcheon-ro 107beon-gil, Busanjin-gu) or the Cube Officetel parking lot (19, Seojeon-ro). One hour of parking is covered, so just bring your parking ticket to the reception on the 2nd floor. Seomyeon Station Exit 8 is a 1-minute walk away, so public transportation is convenient too.

06What's the difference between the 2nd and 4th floors?

The 2nd floor is for reception, consultations, outpatient care, and 3D CT imaging; the 4th floor has the operating room, recovery room, private inpatient rooms, and post-surgery care area. If it's your first visit, please come to the 2nd floor.

07Should I bring my existing CT scans or an orthodontist's referral letter?

Yes. If you have an orthodontist's referral letter, previous CT scans or panoramic X-rays, or records of surgery at other clinics, please bring them, as they will help with your consultation.

Surgery · Hospitalization

01Does the director perform the surgery himself?

Yes. Dr. Sang-Hoon Lee personally handles everything: the consultation, 3D surgical planning, the surgery, rounds during your hospital stay, and follow-up after discharge. Staff do not do this in his place.

02What are the inpatient rooms like?

On the 4th floor, there are four private inpatient rooms, each separated by floor. You can recover without others watching, and a guardian may stay by your side as long as it does not interfere with clinic operations.

03Do I need to bring a guardian?

We recommend that a guardian accompany you on the day of general or sedation anesthesia. A guardian may stay with you during your hospital stay, but it is not required.

04Is there a board-certified anesthesiologist?

For surgery under general anesthesia, an anesthesiologist manages anesthesia during the operation and continuously monitors BIS anesthetic depth, breathing and carbon dioxide levels, and vital signs.

05What is the post-surgery care program?

Depending on your recovery, we apply swelling-management injections, Smartlux·LDM regenerative laser, and Shurink. We do not apply the same program uniformly to every patient.

06How long is the wait for a surgery date?

This depends on your examinations and the schedule for collaboration with your orthodontist; we will go over available dates during your consultation. Orthognathic surgery tends to be concentrated in certain seasons, so we recommend booking a consultation early before and after school vacations and holidays.

Costs · Insurance

01Where can I check the cost?

Our fee schedule for non-covered services is published on our website. The total varies depending on the scope of surgery, anesthesia, hospitalization, and examinations, so the exact cost is provided in writing after diagnosis.

02Are there any discounts or promotions?

In accordance with the Medical Act, we do not advertise price discounts or events. The amounts in the fee schedule on our website are the standard.

03Does private health insurance cover it?

Orthognathic surgery and similar procedures are mostly classified as cosmetic, so private insurance coverage is generally difficult. Where there is a functional reason, coverage depends on the insurer's criteria, so please ask during your consultation whether a medical certificate can be issued.

04Are card and installment payments available?

Card payment is available, and installment terms follow the card company's conditions.

International Patients · Foreigners

01Can foreign patients be treated?

Yes. International students living in Korea, including those from China and Myanmar, receive orthognathic surgery, wisdom tooth extraction, and TMJ care here. We provide guide pages in English, Japanese, and Chinese; please let us know in advance if you need an interpreter.

02Can I book through a broker?

We do not recruit patients through brokers. Please contact us directly.

03How long do I need to stay if I come from abroad?

For orthognathic (double jaw) and facial contouring surgery, we recommend staying at least 2–3 weeks, from pre-surgery examinations through stitch removal. Follow-up afterward can be supplemented with photos and remote consultations. Please see the foreign-language pages for details.

Other

01Do you also provide orthodontic treatment?

The clinic offers orthodontic treatment on a limited basis, and orthognathic surgery patients are co-managed with their own orthodontic clinic. The surgical parts of orthodontic care, such as placing orthodontic mini-screws, surgical exposure, and arch expansion, are performed at our clinic.

02Can I see before-and-after photos?

Cases that patients have consented to share can be viewed on the case pages. In accordance with medical advertising law, we note that photography conditions may not be identical and that results vary from person to person.

03Is there a video or blog by the director?

You can see stories from our practice on YouTube @barunface_surgery, Naver Blog maxface_busan, and Instagram @thebarunface.
